Wilbur Wright

Born in Millville, Indiana. Died in Dayton, Ohio.
Wilbur was the older of the famous Wright brothers. He and, his brother, Orville, developed, and flew, the first successful airplane on December 17, 1903.
Wilbur won a coin toss to pilot the first controlled, powered flight. The plane was airborne for 59 seconds and covered a distance of 852 feet. You can read more about the event here.
Their initial success led to them becoming wealthy businessmen, selling their airplanes in Europe and America.
In April 1912, Wilbur contracted typhoid fever and died the following month at the tender age of 45.
Abraham ‘Bram’ Stoker

Born in Dublin, Ireland. Died in London, England.
Bram Stoker was an Irish author who is renowned for his classic horror novel Dracula, which he published in 1897.
Earlier in his life, Stoker had been the personal assistant of Victorian stage actor Henry Irving, for whom Stoker had managed London’s Lyceum Theatre.
Joseph Lister

Born in Upton, England. Died in Walmer, England.
Lister was a British surgeon and scientist, who pioneered the use of antiseptic medicine.
In 1879, Listerine mouthwash was named in his honor.
