Tragumna, meaning “Beach of the Turf”, is a small village in West Cork, only a short drive from Skibbereen.
The lovely sandy beach, framed by rocks and cliffs on each side, has been awarded Blue Flag status.
A marshland and small lake close to the beach is also a popular spot for birdwatchers.
Close-by is Lough Hyne, which was designated as Ireland’s first Marine Nature Reserve in 1981. It is one of the most-studied sites of its size in the world.
