Mountcharles, from the Irish Tamhnach an tSalainn, meaning ‘the Field of Salt’, is a village in the south of County Donegal.

The Irish name for the village refers to the salt mine in the area which local people worked in for the plantation founder, Charles Conyngham.

A short distance from the sea near Mountcharles, Salthill Garden is a contemporary space that has been individually styled by Elizabeth Temple.
