Downings is a seaside Gaeltacht village on the Rosguill peninsula in north County Donegal.

The beautiful Atlantic Drive is a short but spectacular scenic 12km route around the Rosguill Peninsula. You will appreciate it most if you walk or cycle the route.

Downings used to be a significant fishing port with a substantial herring fleet.

Situated in Sheephaven Bay, one of the safest anchorages on the northwest Irish coast, Downings now caters for international game fishermen, as it is on the migration route of bluefin tuna.

The dunes that connect the Rosguill peninsula to the mainland are also home to the Rosapenna Links golf course designed by Old Tom Morris.
