Mullaghmore, from the Irish meaning “the great summit”, is a village on the Mullaghmore peninsula in County Sligo.
Mullaghmore is a big wave surfing destination, with surfers from all over the world visiting to ride the waves around Mullaghmore each year.
For those wishing to become more acquainted with the looming Mount Ben Bulben, there is a 4km Looped Walk route to enjoy.
Overlooking Mullaghmore is Classiebawn Castle, the former residence of Lord Louis Moundbatten.
It was off the Mullaghmore coast in August 1979 that Lord Mountbatten along with his fourteen-year-old grandson and others were killed by a bomb planted by the Provisional IRA.
